Ulrike Block writes:
"Between February and July 2007 I talked to more than 70 stakeholders and I visited numerous projects that aim to support orphans. During the field study in Tanzania I realised that the necessary answers to the orphan crisis are already in the country - there is no need to import solutions, but there is a need to share knowledge and skills of organisations. Often I was asked how other projects deal with certain problems, which methods they use and how they finance their programmes.
"As a result I decided to write a “Best Practice Guide for comprehensive Orphan Care”, which I made available to all projects I visited in Tanzania. The aim of this handbook is to present the outcome of my research and to describe different examples of effective methods to care for orphans. The report on each program is a short description to give an idea about different possibilities. Links and addresses of visited organisations should facilitate an exchange and provide additional information. These should enable organisations to implement the programmes according to the individual problems and resources in their community."
