Red House 2000, led by the talented Theobald Mtema, has just received a a $500 gift from an anonymous donor.
The gift happened after the donor visited Red House at work and was tremendously impressed by the work being done there. The donation was made through the Argentarius Foundation in London, and it will be paid out to Red House in Dar es Salaam in Tanzanian shillings -- we hope this weekend.
Here are a couple of pictures of Red House's new chairs and tables.

Shirika hili linajishughulisha na maswala yanayohusu haki za binadamu na njozi zake ni kuhakikisha haki za binadamu zina heshimika na kukuzwa.
Kituo hiki ni moja kati ya vituo vilivyo katika mtandao wa African Communities ambao unajishughulisha na maswala mbalimbali yanayohusu watoto mtandao huu unafadhiliwa na shirika linaloitwa Argentarius Foundation lenye makao yake makuu London- UK .
Katika kuhakikisha kuwa tunadumisha uhusiano uliopo kati yetu na mfadhili, kuna mikakati tuliowekeana na moja kubwa kati ya mikakati hiyo ni kwamba kila kikundi kina kuwa tayari kukubali kutembelewa na kutembelea kundi lingine kwa misingi ya kubadilishana mawazo na uzoefu ambao utatumika kwa faida ya pande zote mbili lakini pia kwa wana mtandao wote.

GROUP ni asasi isiyo ya kiserikali ambayo imekuwa ikijishughulisha na utoaji wa
huduma ya kisaikolojia kwa watoto waishio katika mazingila magumu kwa kutumia
sanaa shilikishi kama nyenzo kuu ya msaada kwa watoto.hata hivyo pamoja na
huduma hii shilika liliona ni vyema watoto hawa kuwa na haki ya kutambulika
kama watanzania halisi,ambayo ni haki ya kila binadamu kokote duniani.lakini
tukumbuke kwamba huwezi kutambulika kama raia halisi katika nchi yeyote
ulimwenguni bila kuwa na cheti cha kuzaliwa!na pia shilika lililejea katika
kauri ya serikali juu ya mpango wake wa utoaji wa IDENTITY CARD kwa waTanzania
wote.ambapo kigezo cha utambuzi wa kujua yupi ni mTanzania ni lazima huwe na
cheti cha kuzaliwa,ambapo watoto wengi imeonekana hawana vyeti hivyo!hivyo
baada ya kuona upungufu huu shilika liliomba msaada wa uwezeshwaji toka
Africancommunities-UK,ili kuwezesha utambuzi wa watoto wote ambao hawana vyeti
vya kuzaliwa katika maeneo ya kata ya kinondoni na kisarawe,ambapo ndio maeneo
ambayo shilika limekuwa likitoa huduma zake kwa miaka miwiri sasa.na tuliweza
kufanya kazi hii kwa ushilikiano wa mashilika mengine mawili,ambayo ni NATIONAL
YOUTH INFORMATION CENTRE(NICE) na WOLISU.
SHUGHULI:
Mradi huu wa
utambuzi wa watoto wote wasio na vyeti vya kuzaliwa ulianza mapema mwezi wa
May2007 na kumalizika mwezi wa July2007.na mradi ulilenga zaidi kuandaa
utaratibu ambao ungewezesha kupatikana kwa taarifa za msingi sana toka kwa
mtoto mwenyewe au mlezi wake.
(i)Kutambulisha
mradi kwa serikali za mitaa ya maeneo tuliyofanya utambuzi wa watoto kwa njia
ya barua na majadiliano ya muda mfupi na ofisi husika.
(ii)Kutengeneza
dodoso.
(iii)Kupita
nyumba kwa nyumba kadiri ya idadi ya makisio na shule kadhaa kadri ya makisio
tuliyojipangia.
(iv)Kuandika
ripoti ndogo.
(v)Tathimini
ya shughuli zote zilizofanyika.
(vi)Ripoti ya
mwisho wa mradi kuandikwa.
MATOKEO.
-Watekelezaji
wa mradi waliweza kuzitembelea nyumba 25 za familia tofauti tofauti na shule
moja ya msingi.
-Waliweza
kufanya maojiano na watoto 56 toka familia 18!
-Waliweza
kujaza dodoso nzima kwa watoto 22
KUSHUHUDIA KWA

-Watekelezaji
wa mradi waliweza kujifunza na hata kujenga mahusiano mapya na familia zote
walizofanya majadiliano.
-Mahusiano na
serikali za maeneo yaliyofikiwa yamekuwa ya kufaa sana hasa baada ya utambuzi
huu wa watoto.
-Watekelezaji
walionyesha ubunifu hasa baada ya kuboresha dodoso baada ya baadhi ya maswari
kuwa yenye mkanganyiko.
-Mradi huu
unaweza ukafanyika kama mwendelezo hata mahari pengine.
MAPENDEKEZO:
Kwa kiasi
kikubwa CHIMABA SANAA GROUP na Asasi marafiki katika mradi huu wameweza kufanya
jambo lenye maana kubwa sana kwa manufaa ya jamii ya kiTanzania.hasa maeneo
mradi huu ulipofanyika.yaani kisarawe.japo makadilio ya mradi ilikuwa kufikia
na eneo la kata ya kinondoni lakini bajeti ya kifedha haikuweza kutosha.tulichojifunza
zaidi katika mradi huu ni kwamba jamii ya maeneo husika ni vyema ishilikishwe
katika jambo hili kwa ukaribu sana,kwani watu wengi hawajajua umuhimu wa vyeti
vya kuzaliwa na hawaoni umuhimu wa watoto wao kuwa na vyeti hivi.kwa vile ni
vigumu kugharimia vyeti vya kuzaliwa kwa watoto wote wanaoendelea
kutambuliwa,ni vyema kuielimisha jamii jinsi gani ishiriki moja kwa moja katika
hili tunaamini kabisa picha nzima ya mabadiliko itaonekana.
HITIMISHO:
Mradi huu wa
ushirika,umetujengea hari mpya kabisa katika utendaji wa kazi zetu za kijamii
za kila siku,na kutufanya tujiamini sana kwa kuona kumbe umoja ni nguvu na
utengano ni udhaifu! Tunawashukulu sana Foundation ya Uingereza kwa kufadhili
jambo hili lenye maana sana kwa watoto walengwa wa Asasi zetu.

CHIMABA SANAA GROUP 2006 GENERAL ANNUAL MEETING REPORT
INTRODUCTION
Chimaba Sanaa Group is a community-based group established in June 2003 and officially registered in 2006 by Tanzania National Arts Council. Its headquarters are in Kinondoni Municipality, Dar es Salaam Region. The organization has branches in Coast Region, Morogoro, Singida, Mwanza and Mbeya regions, which execute various community communication activities, and the organization works in a coordinated manner.
Chimaba Sanaa Group was founded by 20 youth, 8 females and 12 males, many of whom had been leading risky lifestyles such as drugs abuse, practicing unsafe sex with multiple partners and who were generally poor. They chose coming together after attending educational seminars organized by other youth serving agencies and realizing that their future was blind. They reflected on their lives and intended to change, mobilized other youth in similar circumstances and joined efforts for public education primarily targeted at vulnerable youth in order to improve their living conditions.
Acknowledgment
First and foremost, special acknowledgments are extended to our partners, the Foundation for Civil Societies, Argentarius Foundation of London and Tanzania Cultural Trust Fund, for their technical and financial support in implementing our organization activities.
Secondly, CHIMABA SANAA GROUP STAFFS, Volunteers and peer educators deserve the appreciation for their cooperation, effective participation and valuable contribution in reaching the desired goal. This also goes to our network members AFCONET and Kinondoni district cluster.
And lastly, thanks are also accorded to individual who most of the times dropped their daily plan for the project success; these include Mr. Milengo of CHIYOWONET, Mr. Mwansanga of NICE and Furaha D. of SAGETA
Project implemented and sources of funds
1.1Project Name: Reduction of psychological problems among orphans and vulnerable children in kinondoni and Mwananymala wards in Kinondoni District.
1.2 Donor: - Argentarious Foundation of London.
Amount: - 1000 USD
1.3 Main objective: -The reduce the depression of the children living with HIV/AIDS, the most vulnerable, sexual workers, and drug abused at Kinondoni and Mwananyamala wards, in Dar es Salaam region.
1.4 Project activities:
The project commenced on 28th January 2006 with a major purpose in the following areas:
(I) Discussions in meetings and organized debates between the victims i.e. drug abusers, orphans, the raped and those living with HIV/AIDS
(II) Homes based care services aimed at educating and care taking to the children by offering food (including both sugar and fruits), clothes and treatment.
(III) Capacity building to the personnel in groups, particularly in organizing small projects and linking them with institutions providing small soft loans the ain of which is to make changes in life standards. Due to financial constraints CHIMABA cannot even afford the monthly pay to the executive.
(IV) Technical educating is provided so as to prepare them for the future; in this case we offer the courses as follows: -tailoring. Cookery, Fine art and sighs.
(V) Monthly exchanging visits between donor groups.
1.5 Methodology; To be successful for this project, several methods ware applied, these were;
-Live arts performances
-Drawings
-Acrobatics
-Songs
And discussion and debate between children of similar problems
1.6 Project out come
-Creative and active were the participants in the monthly debates and transparency showed clearly in their contribution making it possible for the facilitator to have enough time in organizing the discussions, by so doing the children come up with concrete solutions without seeking help from the facilitator.
-HBC was successful when 18 families of 25 children were registered for ART and mental deranged clinics. Two families were also counseled on stigmatization for they had sent away the orphans living with HIV/AIDS with proper education on handling and caring PLGA the families are now living together with orphans.
-Another women group has been established. These are women who have received soft loans from FINCA and PRIDE. They are concerned with cookery and tailoring.
-Sponsored by PLAN INTERNATIONAL in collaboration with CHIYOWONET 4 children are doing their studies in VETA this year.
-Through the year round, CHIMABA paid exchange visits to several member groups of Afconet holding discussions on how to go through successfully

2.0 Project Name: Life skills training to youth camps in Kinondoni and Mwananyamala wards
2.1 Donor: The Foundation for Civil Societies-Dar es Salaam Tanzania.
2.2 Project objective; To change youth’s altitudes towards their camps so as to make them places for developmental information sharing.
2.3. Project Activities;
(i) Life skills training for 25 youths from camps
(ii) Sensitizing communities around these camps on life skills by using theatre performance.
(iii) Visiting camps and assisting them in group restructuring
(iv) Reduce incidence of crimes in areas where camps are located
(v) Monitoring and evaluation
2.4. Methodology
(i) Training of trainers seminar for youths from camps
(ii) Life skills training using participatory theatre approach in areas where camps a located
(iii) Camp capacity evaluation restructuring using Capacity Assessment tools developed by Argentarious Foundation
2.5 Outcome
(i) The number of youth abusing drugs has dropped
(ii) Crime rates has decreased in areas around camps
(iii) The use of condoms among the youths has increased
(iv) Cooperation among camps and local government authorities has improved
(v) Introduction of youth income generating activities

CHIMABA’S MAJOR ARCHVEMENT FOR THE YEAR 2006
1. Chimaba managed to implement 2 donor projects successfully
2. In these projects a total number of 2500 youths were reached direct by our projects as project beneficiaries and a total number of 42500 were reached as secondary beneficiaries
3. Formation of youth camps network in Mwananyamala and Kinondoni. This network as assisted youth to get support from the municipal.
4. Joined AFCONET and Kinondoni cluster networks, which are very useful in information sharing and capacity building.
LESSONS LEARNED
Networking is very important and useful in terms of access to funds and capacity building.
CHALLENGE
The major challenge we faced during projects implementation is lack of information sharing among the youth, local government authorities, NGOs and other stakeholders. This has ready to misunderstanding, duplication of initiatives and mismanagement of available resources in the community.
WAY FORWARD
(i) Civic Education to youths in particular and community in general
(ii) Expansion of our projects
(iii) Reach bigger number of youths and geographical coverage of our organization
(iv) Continues technical support to youth group network
